RV Windshield Chip Repair in Florida: What Owners Need to Know

If you own a motorhome or Class A RV, you already know the windshield is not something you want to think about replacing. A full RV windshield replacement can run anywhere from $500 to $2,000 or more depending on the size and the vehicle. That is a serious chunk of money for what is often a preventable outcome.

Most RV Chips Can Be Repaired

RV windshields are large, but the glass itself behaves the same way as a car windshield when it comes to chips and small cracks. A rock chip in your RV windshield that is quarter-sized or smaller is typically repairable with the same polymer resin injection process used on cars. The repair seals the chip, prevents it from spreading, and restores most of the structural integrity of the glass.

The key is catching it early. A chip that has already spread into a significant crack may be beyond repair, and at that size on an RV windshield, replacement costs get steep fast. The sooner you call, the more likely the repair is still on the table.

You Cannot Exactly Drive an RV to a Shop

This is where mobile service becomes really important for RV owners. Most auto glass shops are not set up for motorhomes. The vehicles are too big for standard bays, and a lot of shops will not even quote you on RV glass. Taking a 35-foot Class A through town to find a shop that can handle it is a production that most people would rather skip.

Patrick comes to you. Your driveway, your storage facility, your campsite. Wherever the RV is sitting, that is where the work happens. You do not have to move it anywhere.

We Know Citrus and Hernando County RV Country

Citrus and Hernando counties are full of RV owners and retirees who live part or full-time in their motorhomes. The area around Crystal River, Chassahowitzka, and Weeki Wachee has dozens of RV parks and campgrounds. Folks come through on the way south for winter, park for months at a time, and call us from their site.

We also get calls from people who travel the Suncoast Parkway corridor and pick up a chip somewhere on US-19 or 98 and want to get it handled before they head back north. If you are in the Citrus, Marion, or Hernando County area, we can come to you.

RV windshields are expensive. Repair is almost always the right first call. If the chip is repairable, fixing it now will save you a thousand dollars or more compared to waiting until it spreads.

What to Expect with an RV Chip Repair

The process is the same as a car repair. Patrick will clean the chip, inject a clear polymer resin into the damage under pressure, and cure it with a UV light. The whole thing takes about 30 minutes. The chip becomes much harder to see, and more importantly, the spread stops.

We charge the same rate for RV chip repair as car repair. One chip is $100 to $125. Additional chips are $10 each. It is a fraction of what a replacement would cost.
