Everything you need to know about windshield chip repair, cost, insurance, and our mobile service.
Call (352) 234-4412Most chip repairs run between $100 and $125 depending on the size and type of damage. That's a fraction of what you'd pay for a full windshield replacement, which can run $300 to $500 or more. You can learn more about our windshield chip repair service or give us a call and we'll give you an honest quote before we start. No surprises.
It can. Filing a comprehensive claim (even for a small chip) goes on your record and can bump your premiums at renewal. That's why many of our customers choose to pay out of pocket for chip repair. At $100 to $125, the repair often costs less than your deductible anyway, and your rates stay right where they are.
Most chip repairs take 20 to 30 minutes. We come to your location: home, office, parking lot, wherever your vehicle is. Check our service areas to confirm we cover your location. No waiting room, no rearranging your day. You can go right back to driving when we're done.
Not every chip can be repaired. Generally, if the damage is smaller than a quarter and hasn't spread into the driver's direct line of sight, repair is a good option. Star breaks, bullseye chips, and half-moons are all repairable in most cases. If your damage is too far gone, we'll tell you honestly. We won't try to sell you a repair that won't hold.
We repair rock chips (bullseye, star break, half-moon, and combination breaks), small cracks under about 6 inches, edge chips, and surface pits. If you're not sure whether yours qualifies, just call or text us a photo. We'll let you know right away.
We come to you. That's the whole point. Chip Away is 100% mobile. We'll meet you at your home, your workplace, a parking lot, a campsite, wherever your vehicle is parked. See all the areas we serve across Citrus, Marion, and Hernando counties. No shop visit needed.
We serve three Florida counties: Citrus County (Crystal River, Inverness, Homosassa, Lecanto, Beverly Hills, Floral City), Marion County (Ocala, Dunnellon, Belleview), and Hernando County (Spring Hill, Brooksville, Weeki Wachee). If you're nearby but not sure, give us a call.
A properly done chip repair is permanent. The polymer resin bonds the glass and stops the damage from spreading. Under normal driving conditions, the repair will last the life of the windshield. We stand behind our work. If you have any issues, call us.
Yes. We handle RV and motorhome glass chip repairs regularly. RV windshields are expensive to replace, often $500 to $2,000 or more. See how our chip repair service works for large vehicles. A repair saves you a huge amount and we come right to your campsite, storage lot, or driveway so you don't have to navigate your rig to a shop.
It gets worse. Florida heat, highway vibration, and temperature changes can turn a small chip into a spreading crack within days. Once the crack gets too long or crosses the driver's line of sight, repair isn't an option anymore. You're looking at a full windshield replacement at 5 to 10 times the cost. The sooner you repair it, the better your odds.
It depends on the size and location of the crack. Small cracks under six inches and not in the driver's direct line of sight can often be repaired with polymer resin, the same process we use for chips. Cracks that have spread to the edge of the glass, cracks longer than six inches, or cracks directly in front of the driver are usually beyond repair and require full replacement. The most important thing: if you have a crack that is still small, do not wait. Cracks spread faster than chips, especially in Florida heat. Call us and we will give you an honest assessment. Florida has a unique law: if you carry comprehensive coverage, your insurer is required to cover windshield repair and replacement with no deductible. So in theory, you could file a claim and pay nothing. However, filing even a zero-deductible comprehensive claim can still affect your premium at renewal, depending on your insurer and your claim history. For a repair that costs $100 to $125 out of pocket, many customers choose to pay directly and keep their claim history clean. We leave that decision entirely to you. If you have questions about whether your specific policy qualifies, your insurance agent is the best person to ask.
