Windshield Chip Repair in Inverness & Inland Citrus County
By Chip Away Auto Glass Repair · 4 min read
Chip Away is based in Crystal River, out on the coast, but a good share of our Citrus County work happens on the other side of the county — the inland, lake-country side around Inverness. SR-44 connects the two, and Patrick runs it constantly. If you are in Inverness, Floral City, Beverly Hills, or Lecanto and you have a chip in your windshield, you are well inside our home territory.
Why Inland Citrus Drivers Pick Up Chips
The inland half of Citrus County is a different kind of driving than the coast. US-41 runs north-south the length of it, carrying a steady mix of commuters, agricultural traffic, and trucks moving between the county and points south toward Brooksville. SR-44 brings cross-county traffic from Crystal River over to Inverness and on toward Wildwood and I-75. And then there are the rural two-lanes — CR-491, the roads out toward the Withlacoochee — where loose gravel, log trucks, and farm equipment kick up debris.
That mix is exactly where rock chips come from. A loaded truck on US-41, a stretch of freshly patched rural road, a piece of gravel off a trailer — at highway speed it only takes one. Most of the inland chip calls we get start with the same sentence: 'I was just driving along and heard a crack.'
Inverness: The County Seat, Same-Day Service
Inverness is the county seat and the hub of inland Citrus, sitting right on the Tsala Apopka chain of lakes. Between the courthouse, the downtown, the medical offices, and the residential growth spreading out along SR-44 and US-41, there are a lot of cars on the road here every day. We cover all of it. If you live or work in Inverness and you call in the morning, there is a good chance we can get out to you the same day.
Patrick comes to wherever the car is sitting — your driveway, the office lot, the parking lot at the Publix on US-41, the lot at work. The repair takes about 30 minutes. You go about your day and the glass is sealed by the time you would have otherwise been driving across town to a shop.
One note for Inverness drivers searching for windshield replacement specifically: most of the people who call us thinking they need a new windshield actually have damage that is still repairable. We do not do replacements — we do chip and crack repair — but it is worth a 30-second call to find out which one you actually need before you spend $400 on glass you may not need.
Floral City
Floral City sits south of Inverness on US-41, and if you have driven Orange Avenue under that canopy of live oaks, you know it is one of the prettiest stretches in the county. It is also rural, which means the roads around it are exactly the kind that produce rock chips — narrower lanes, more debris, agricultural and timber traffic. We are out toward Floral City regularly and same-day service is realistic. Call in the morning and we will usually work it out.
Beverly Hills & Lecanto
Beverly Hills is one of the larger established residential communities in central Citrus, with a big share of retirees who would much rather have someone come to them than navigate a trip to a glass shop. That is the whole point of what we do — Patrick comes to your driveway. Lecanto, just to the west along SR-44 and CR-491, has been growing steadily and sits right in the middle of our coverage, an easy stop on the way between Crystal River and Inverness. Both are fully in our service area at the same price as anywhere else.
Out on the Coast Too — Crystal River & Homosassa
Crystal River is our home base, and we cover the whole Nature Coast side of the county — Crystal River, Homosassa, and the communities along US-19 and the Suncoast Parkway. Those coastal highways throw their own share of rock chips, especially with the construction and tourist traffic the area sees. Wherever you are in Citrus County, coast or inland, you are covered.
Why Mobile Makes More Sense Than a Shop
Inland Citrus is spread out. Driving to a glass shop, waiting around or arranging a ride, and driving back can eat half a day for a repair that takes half an hour. Mobile service skips all of that. Patrick comes to you, does the repair where the car already is, and you never rearrange your day around it. For a retiree in Beverly Hills or a working parent in Inverness, that difference is the whole reason to call a mobile specialist instead of a shop.
Call or text (352) 234-4412 and tell Patrick what you are looking at — the size of the chip, where it sits on the glass, and whether it has started to spread. He can usually tell you over the phone whether it is repairable and get a same-day or next-day visit scheduled. We work Monday through Saturday, 8 AM to 6 PM, and Sunday by appointment.
